A bipartisan US delegation to Taiwan, led by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Mullen, who served as head of the US military uniformed services, met with President Tsai Ing-wen at the Presidential Office in Taipei on 2 January and stressed that the US would "keep its promises" to Taiwan and reaffirmed that the US policy of engagement with Taiwan would remain unchanged following the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
