North Korea falls into ballistic missile, new ICBM or Japanese EEZ

At 4:06pm on 24 April, the Japanese Coast Guard announced that a ballistic missile may have been launched from North Korea and "is believed to have fallen about 170km west of Cape Ryutobi in Aomori, Japan, at about 3:44pm". Japan's Defence Minister Nobuo Kishi clarified that the missile was presumed to have fallen in Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the first time a missile has fallen within the EEZ since September 2021.
